Bridgewater State SwimAmerica Beginner Learn to Swim Lessons (Levels 1 & 2)

 

This BSU SwimAmerica Beginner, Intermediate and Competitive Program are for children ages 6 and Above. 
Children must have completed kindergarten to be eligible, but preschool classes are available.

All instructors are certified by the American Swim Coaches Association and are on deck or in the water with their class at all times. Certified lifeguards are also on deck.

Each class will have no more than five students.  For a class to run there must be at least two students. Each Class will have there own instructor.

SwimAmerica Beginner and Intermediate Classes are 30 minutes long.

Station Skills to be Learned Advancement Skills
Level 1: Bubbles
(For swimmers 6+ with no previous experience)
-Blowing bubbles
-Gradual water adaptation
-Movement in water with coach
-Breath holding and release
-Wall bobs with air exchange
-Open eyes under water
10 Relaxed Bobs
Level 2: Floats & Glides
(Swimmers 6+ who have passed level 1 or swim test)
-Front float and recover
-Front glide and recover
-Back float and recover
-Back glide and recover
-Jumping bobs
-Streamline bobs
Front glide from push and recover
For 5 seconds

Back glide from push and recover
For 5 seconds
