Dedicated on October 17, 2002, the Tinsley Center is a 84,000 square foot facility.  The facility is home to the Department of Athletics and Recreation, the Department of Movement Arts, Health Promotion and Leisure Studies, the Thornburg Fitness Center, as well as faculty/staff and coaches offices. The Center also houses five academic classrooms and three laboratories; Exercise Science, Biomechanics and Athletic Training. Eight locker rooms accommodate varsity sports teams, faculty/staff, and students. The Equipment Issue, Sports Medicine Center and Conference Room are within the Tinsley Center.

This is an NCAA regulation basketball and volleyball venue that seats 1000 spectators.  The court has three scoreboards for optimal spectator viewing, and has both wired and wireless internet access. It also has a state of the art sound system, a grade 2 Robbins bio-channel floor, and an automatic bleacher system. 

 

 Synthetic Multipurpose Courts

 

The two multipurpose courts in the Adrian Tinsley Center are lined for basketball, volleyball, badminton, and tennis. This space is shared by the Movement Arts, Health Promotion and Leisure studies Department BSU varsity teams, and the intramural sports program. Each court is equipped with scoreboards, automatic batting cages, four basketball hoops, an automatic center curtain and perimeter draw curtains.

  Walking/Jogging Track

 

The elevated 1/8 mile three lane track  encircles the 32,000 square foot gymnasium area.  This is a great space for a stroll or jog year round in the Tinsley Center's climate controlled 


 Thornburg Fitness Center

 

The 9,000 square foot Thornburg Fitness Center is equipped with some of the most current equipment on the market including cardiovascular machines, selectorized weight machines, plate-loaded equipment, free-weights, and olympic lifting platforms.  Students, faculty, staff and alumni can purchase annual or semester memberships or day passes.  The fitness center boasts wonderful views of the athletic fields and neighboring green spaces.  

 Conference Room

 

The Tinsley conference room, adjacent to the Athletic Department office, is a sought after space for various team, group and committee meetings and functions.  In the board room format the table can comfortably accommodate 20 people.  In theater format the room can hold up to 60 people for small receptions, team meetings or as a hospitality area. Adjacent to the conference room are a small kitchen and storage room. The conference room is equipped with an document projector, laptop, DVD, VCR, internet access, iPod dock, HDMI, and video and Phone conferencing ability.  Media can be projected onto a 6' x 8' HD screen for optimal viewing.  The decor includes old team photos, historical memorabilia, and trophies from the past two centuries.
