Four BSC Wrestlers Selected to PWL All-Star Team
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Pilgrim Wrestling League has announced the recipients of the 2009 league awards. Bridgewater State College placed four different wrestlers on the first, second and honorable mention all-star teams as well as the scholar-athlete all-star team.

Cammisa Eliminated at NCAA Wrestling Championships
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Bridgewater State College junior Frank Cammisa was eliminated from the NCAA Division III Wrestling championships on Friday. Competing in the 149-pound weight class, Cammisa opened with a 15-3 loss to top-seeded Willy Holst of Augsburg. He then dropped a tough 2-1 decision to Tyler Branham of The College of New Jersey.

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College junior Frank Cammisa was chosen as a wild card selection to compete in the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships which are being held at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on March 6-7.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Led by freshman Ken Francis (New Bedford,MA) and juniors Frank Cammisa (Danbury, CT) and Jeff Esposti (Brookfield,CT), the Bridgewater State College wrestling team placed tenth at the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Division III Championships held this weekend at Springfield College.

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State College sophomore Zachary Bates has been selected as the Pilgrim Wrestling League (PWL) Wrestler of the Week. Bates is the second BSC wrestler to earn the honor this season as junior Frank Cammisa (Danbury, CT) was selected as the PWL Wrestler of the Week back on November 24th.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State College wrestling team dropped a pair of matches at a wrestling tri-match with Roger Williams University and MIT. The Bears lost to RWU, 31-12, and then bowed to host MIT by a margin of 27-23.

NORTHFIELD, VT -- The Bridgewater State College wrestling team dropped three matches at Norwich University on Saturday. The Bears dropped a 35-13 decision to Williams College, bowed to Plymouth State University, 30-22, and wrapped up the meet with a 31-15 loss to host Norwich.

The Bears won their opening bout of the tournament but then dropped the last three to finish with a 1-3 record.

PLYMOUTH, N.H. -- Junior Jeff Esposti (Brookfield, CT) placed first in the 184-pound weight class to lead the Bridgewater State College wrestling team to a fourth place finish at the Plymouth State Invitational on Saturday. The Bears tallied 80.5 points for the tournament finishing behind tournament champion Wesleyan University (189.0), New York University (152.5) and host Plymouth (133).

GRANTHAM, Penn. -- The Bridgewater State College wrestling team placed 9th at the Messiah Petrofes Invitational on Saturday. The Bears tallied 69.5 points for the two-day tournament which featured a total of 13 teams. Wilkes University took home top honors with a 165.0 point total.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Springfield College hosted the 19th Annual Doug Parker Wrestling Invitational at Blake Arena on Saturday. The Merchant Marine Academy won the event with 135.00 points, ahead of second-place Springfield at 124.50, and third-place Williams at 122.00. Bridgewater State College finished in eighth place with 81.50 points.

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State College Director of Athletics, John Harper, announced today that Jason York has been named the Bears’ new head wrestling coach and will take over the reins of the program beginning on August 1st.
