Lexi Thompson Named MASCAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman guard Lexi Thompson has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week.

A native of New Bedford, Massachusetts, Thompson averaged ten points, five rebounds, 5.5 assists and two steals in a 1-1 week for the Bears while shooting 80% (8-10) at the free throw line.

Thompson notched ten points, seven rebounds and four assists in a 77-57 MASCAC win over Framingham State University as BSU head coach Bridgett Casey notcher her 400th win. Thompson also contributed ten points, three rebounds, seven assists and four steals in a 90-79 conference setback to Salem State University.

Through 14 games this season, Thompson is averaging 5.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.1 steals.

Thompson also earned the honor back on November 12th.

The BSU women's basketball team is currently 8-6 on the season and 1-1 in the MASCAC standings. The Bears entertain Wheaton College tonight at seven o'clock.
