The all-time winningest coach in women's basketball history, Bridgett Casey sports a career coaching mark of 411-299 (.579) in 28 years behind the BSU bench including a conference regular season record of 214-108 (.665). She has reached the 20-win mark five times. Casey's 400 wins are by far the most in program history as she is the only BSU women's basketball coach to not only reach the 400-win milestone but also both the 300-win and 200-win plateaus.
Since taking over the reins in 1997, Bridgett has guided her teams to seven Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) regular season titles, eight MASCAC Tournament titles and eight NCAA Division III Tournament appearances including five straight from 2010 to 2015. Along with earning NCAA Tournament berths in 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2023 and 2025, the women's basketball team also made an ECAC Tournament appearance in 2006.
Bridgett was named the MASCAC Coach of the Year in 2025 for the sixth time n her career. She also earned the honor in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2023.
In 2023, Bridgett was inducted into the Bridgwater State Athletics Hall of Fame. She was also inducted into the New Agenda - Northeast Hall of Fame in 2018.
Coach Casey's strategies for success include developing the well rounded student-athlete. Each year, Coach Casey seeks new recruits throughout the New England area to join a team of dedicated individuals. Pre and post-season workouts, study hall and fund raising activities make the basketball program a year round program.
Prior to her arrival at Bridgewater State, Bridgett gained valuable coaching experience working as an assistant under two top women's coaches in the Northeast. Bridgett was an assistant coach at Brown University (1996-97) with head coach Jean Marie Burr, and as an assistant coach at her alma mater Bryant College (1993-96) under head coach Mary Burke.
Coach Casey's skills as a coach began developing as a player. Bridgett was a four-year starter of the Bryant women's basketball team. As a point-guard, she scored over 1,000 points in her career, served as team captain and was selected to the Northeast-10 All-Conference team. At Bryant, Bridgett double majored in both Accounting and History.
Bridgett and her wife, Meghan, have four sons, Owen, Jack, Liam and Troy.
