Men's Track & Field Competes at Wheaton Post-Season Qualifier

NORTON, Mass. -- Nine members of the Bridgewater State University men's indoor track & field team competed on Saturday evening at the Wheaton Post-Season Qualifier.

Graduate student Corey Stalters (Norton, Mass.) placed first in the shot put with a toss of 47 feet, 2.5 inches (14.39m), while freshman Alex Huynh (Stoughton, Mass.) captured top honors in the high jump with a leap of six feet, 6.75 inches (2.00m).

Sophomore Matthew Mooney (Douglas, Mass.) placed second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.86 seconds and finished fifth in the 60-meter dash with a PR of 7.09 seconds.

Senior Chigozie Adigwe (Lowell, Mass.) was second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.47 seconds.

Junior Ryker King (Wareham, Mass.) checked in at third in the hurdles with a personal-best time of 8.54 second and finished third in the 400-meter dash with a PR of 52.24 seconds.

Sophomore Aydan Fournier (Assonet, Mass.) placed third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:02.14, while junior Nicholas Grace (Acushnet, Mass.) posted a time of 52.65 seconds in the 400 to place fourth in the event.

Graduate student Mason Matias (New Bedford, Mass.) and senior Stephen Spofford (Chelmsford, Mass.) finished fifth (23.27) and eighth (23.57), respectively, in the 200.

In upcoming action, qualifying members of the BSU track & field teams will compete on Friday, February 28th and Saturday, March 1st at the Division III New England Championships held at The Track at New Balance.
