Women's Cross Country Places 3rd at MASCAC Championships

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University women's cross country team placed third at the 2017 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Cross Country Championships held on Saturday at Stanley Park in Westfield.

BSU sophomore Jenise Madden (Milford, Mass.) garnered All-MASCAC honors as she placed fourth overall at the meet. Madden covered the five-kilometer course in a time of 19:39.50.

Junior Emily Guyon (Hopedale, Mass.) also earrned all-conference accolades for the Bears. Guyon placed eighth with a time of 19:52.28.

Worcester State University (35 pts.) captured the team title as the Lancers edged runner-up Westfield State (41 pts.). Bridgewater State (82 pts.) rounded out the top three teams.

Senior Jessie Cardin (Sutton. Mass.) of Westfield State won the individual title with a time of 18:19.40.

Following a week off, the BSU cross country teams will compete at the New England Division III Championships hosted by the Unverity of Southern Maine on Saturday, November 11th.
