Madden Leads Women's Cross Country at UMD Invitational

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Freshman Jenise Madden (Milford, Mass.) placed 24th to lead the Bridgewater State University women's cross country team at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday.

The Bears placed 23rd overall in the team standings. Brandeis University captured the team title followed by Stonehill College in second place and Trinity College in third.

Madden covered the five-kilometer layout in a time of 19:04.91. Senior Pascalin Jerotich of AIC checked in with the winning time of 17:41.79.

BSU junior Kristyn Grattan (Hanover, Mass.) was the next Bear to cross the finish line. Grattan posted a time of 19:49.00 to finish 68th overall. Sophomore Emily Guyon (Hopedale, Mass.) capped off BSU's top three runners with a time of 21:11.39. Guyon placed 146th out of a field of 275 harriers.

Next Saturday, the Bears will compete at the 48th Annual Codfish Bowl held at Franklin Park in Dorchester, Massachusetts.
