BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Danielle Poto has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

Poto placed fifth out of 109 harriers at the season-opening Roger Williams Invitational held this past weekend at Colt State Park in Rhode Island. The North Andover, Massachusetts native covered the five-kilometer course in a time of 19:33.19 as she helped the Bears finish fourth in the team standings.

During her rookie season of 2012, Poto garnered all-conference honors as she placed seventh at the MASCAC Championships. In 2013, Poto placed second at the MASCAC Championships to earn all-conference accolades and was named the MASCAC Runner of the Week an impressive six times.

Poto was also selected to the Capital One Academic NCAA Division III All-District One Women's Cross Country Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) during her sophomore year.

After a weekend off, Poto and her teammates will compete at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on September 19th.
