Poto Leads Women's Cross Country at Conn. College Invitational

WATERFORD, Conn. -- The Bridgewater State University women's cross country team placed 14th at the Connecticut College Invitational held on Saturday at Harkness Memorial State Park.

Senior Danielle Poto (North Andover, Mass.) was the Bears' top runner as she completed the six-kilometer course in a time of 22:36.7 to finish 28th out of a field of 301 runners. Classmate Rachel Ducharme (North Attleboro, Mass.) crossed the line in 23:58.3 to place 101st overall, while fellow senior Emily Ducharme (North Attleboro, Mass.) rounded out BSU's top three harriers with a time of 23:58.5 (102nd place).

Maryann Gong of MIT won the individual title with a time of 21:31.3. MIT placed first in the team standings followed by Tufts University and Keene State College.

After a week off, the Bears will compete at the MASCAC Championships hosted by Worcester State University on October 31st.
