Poto Leads Women's Cross Country at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Senior Danielle Poto (North Andover, Mass.) placed 19th to lead the Bridgewater State University women's cross country team at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday.

The Bears placed 12th overall in the team standings. Brandeis University captured the team title followed by East Stroudsburg in second place and Connecticut College in third.

Poto covered the five-kilometer layout in a time of 18:49.75. Junior Allison Decker of East Stroudsburg checked in with the winning time of 17:40.82.

BSU juniors Emily Ducharme (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Rachel Ducharme (North Attleboro, Mass.) were the next Bears to cross the finish line. Emily Ducharme posted a time of 19:58.46 to finish 68th overall, while Rachel Ducharme placed 69th with a time of 19:58.83. Freshman Jessica Roberts (Mendon, Mass.) capped off BSU's top four runners with a time of 20:08.79. Roberts placed 78th out of a field of 315 harriers.

After a weekend off, the BSU cross country teams will compete at the Tri-State Invitational hosted by CCRI on October 3rd.
