BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman Shauntel Farland has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Cross Country Player & Rookie of the Week.
Making her collegiate debut, Farland placed fourth out of a field of 109 harriers to help lead the Bears to a second place finish at the season-opening Roger Williams Invitational. The Burlington, Massachusetts product covered the five-kilometer Colt State Park course in a time of 20:59.69.
Over the last five seasons (including this year), BSU women's cross country student-athletes have captured MASCAC Runner of the Week honors an impressive 25 times.
After a weekend off, the Bears will compete at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, September 20th.
