Peers Leads Women's Cross Country at James Earley Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Jacey Peers (Elmsford, N.Y.) placed 40th out of a field of 424 runners to lead the Bridgewater State University women's cross country team at the James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State University on Saturday at Stanley Park.

The Bears placed tenth overall in the team standings.  Williams College captured the team title followed by Vassar College in second place and the University of New England in third.

Peers, a grad student, covered the five-kilometer course in a time of 19:39.38.  Emily Sundquist of Williams checked in with the winning time of 18:14.74.

Senior captain Krysta Zbikowski (Ashburnham, Mass.) was the next Bear to cross the line. Zbikowski posted a time of 19:56.75 to finish 55th overall.  Freshman Ann Pollock (Peabody, Mass.) capped off BSU's top three runners with a time of 20:30.65.  Pollock placed 82nd.

Next weekend, the BSU cross country teams will compete at the Conn. College Invitational held at Harkness State Park in Waterford, Connecticut.
