Perry Sets BSU School Mark at Maroon & White Classic

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Junior Traci Perry (Middleboro, Mass.) set a new school record in the 60-meter dash to lead the Bridgewater State University women's indoor track & field team at the Maroon & White Classic hosted by Springfield College on Saturday.

Perry posted a preliminary time of 8.14 seconds as she eclipsed classmate Samantha Richner's (Hanson, Mass.) previous program mark of 8.18 seconds set last year. Perry, who qualified for the Division III New England Championships, finished in fifth place in the event as she recorded a finals time of 8.23 seconds.

Perry also placed second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.28 seconds.

The Bears finished third in the team standings with 128.50 points. Springfield College (157 pts.) won the meet title followed by Wheaton College (134 pts.) in second place.

Senior Ariele Krevosky (Oxford, Mass.) won the individual title in the long jump with a mark of 16 feet, eight inches (5.08m). Krevosky also finished second in both the triple jump (33'8"/10.26m) and the 60-meter hurdles (9.31).

Fellow senior Danielle Poto (North Andover, Mass.) captured top honors in the one-mile run with a time of 5:22.43. Poto qualified for the DIII New England Championships in the event.

Freshman Jayci Andrews (Plymouth, Mass.) added a second place showing in the long jump with a DIII New Englands qualifying leap of 16 feet, 5.75 inches (5.02m). Juniors Kristyn Grattan (Hanover, Mass.) and Abbie Pustis (Andover, Mass.) also finished second in the 800-meter run (2:29.69) and 400-meter dash (1:01.54), respectively.

Up next, the Bears will compete at the BU John Thomas Terrier Classic on Friday and the Wheaton Invitational on Saturday.
