Cote Places Third at Messiah Petrofes Invitational

GRANTHAM, Pa. -- Junior Anthony Cote (Danbury, Conn.) placed third out of the 165-pound weight class to lead the Bridgewater State University wrestling team during the second and final day of the prestigious Messiah Petrofes Invitational.

Cote went 4-1 on the day. On Saturday, after dropping a tough 2-0 decision to nationally ranked Larry Cannon of host Messiah in the semifinals, Cote bounced back with a 14-6 major decision over Aarin Feliz of Springfield College. He then edge Jimmy Frantantoni of Muhlenburg, 5-3, in the third place match.

Freshman Henry Oberlander (Mansfield, Mass.) finished in sixth place out of the 184-pound weight class as he finished 3-3 at the two-day tournament. On Saturday, Oberlander recorded a 12-9 decision over Antony Risley of Mount Union in the consolation quarterfinals, but dropped his final two matches.

The Bears finished in 12th place in the team standings with 36.5 points. Host Messiah won the tournament with 209 points followed by Gettysburg in second place with 131.5 points and Mount Union and Wilkes tied for third with 130 points.
