BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior Andrew Gauthier (Lowell, Mass.) has been selected as the Pilgrim Wrestling League (PWL) Wrestler of the Week.

Gauthier posted a 2-1 mark at the NEWA-Metro Duals held this past weekend at The College of New Jersey. The Lowell, Massachusetts product recorded six escapes, five near falls and a pair of takedowns competing at both the 125 and 133-pound weight classes.

Gauthier moved up a weight class to 133 and posted a 6-4 win over Alex Reeves of Centenary College.  He then earned a 10-7 win at 125 over Kenny Albert of Hunter College.

In 25 bouts this season, Gauthier has posted a record of 13-12 (.520) with six pins, 14 takedowns, 50 near falls and 11 escapes. He leads the Bears in wins and pins, and ranks third in winning percentage.

Gauthier has been wrestling particularly well of late as he is 9-3 with four pins over his last 12 bouts.

The schedule continues for Gauthier and the BSU wrestling team on Saturday as the Bears travel to WPI for a pair of matches.  Bridgewater will take on the host Engineers at noon and Daniel Webster College at 1:30.
