SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University wrestling team posted a 1-2 mark at the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Dual Meet Tournament hosted by Springfield College on Sunday.

The Bears (2-7) dropped a 48-3 decision to Coast Guard and a 30-16 decision to Plymouth State before posting a 51-4 victory over Daniel Webster in the 13th place match.

Senior 125-pounder Andrew Gauthier (Lowell, Mass.) garnered All-Tournament honors for BSU as he went 3-0 on the day. Gauthier recorded a 5-0 win against Coast Guard and pinned his opponent from Plymouth State.  He also picked up a medical forfeit victory in the win over Daniel Webster.

Senior Brett Reed (Mansfield, Mass.) and junior Ryan Cassidy (Billerica, Mass.) both finished 2-1 on the day. Reed pinned his opponent from Plymouth State at 133, while Cassidy recorded an 11-3 major decision against Plymouth State and a win by fall against Daniel Webster competing out of the 174-pound weight class.

In upcoming action, the Bears will compete at the NEWA-Metro Duals hosted by The College of New Jersey on Saturday.
