Manzoni Places 8th at Messiah Petrofes Invitational

GRANTHAM, Pa. -- Junior Adam Manzoni (Shohola, Pa.) placed eighth in the 197-pound weight class to lead the Bridgewater State University wrestling team at the Messiah Petrofes Invitational.

Manzoni went 2-2 during the two-day tournament as he was the Bears' lone place-winner.  On Saturday, he was injured 40 seconds into his consolation quarterfinal round match against Anthony Puca of Gettysburg College and was unable to continue. Manzoni was also unable to compete in the seventh-place match against Kyle Koser of host Messiah College.

The Bears finished in 12th place in the team standings with 20.5 points.  University of Wisconis-Whitewater (161.5 pts.) captured the team title followed by Wilkes University (154.0 pts.) in second place and Messiah (137.0 pts.) in third.

The BSU wrestling team returns to the mat on Wednesday night (7:00) when the Bears travel to Johnson & Wales University for a Pilgrim Wrestling League (PWL) match with the Wildcats.
