Herrington Notches 100th Career Goal as Women's Lacrosse Rolls to 22-4 Win

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Erin McIntyre (Tewksbury, Mass.) tallied a career-high ten points, including the 100th of her career, and Savannah Herrington (Kinnelon, N.J.) scored her 100th collegiate goal as the Bridgewater State University women's lacrosse team cruised to a 22-4 victory over Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) foe Salem State University on Wednesday night at Mazzaferro Field.

The Bears improve to 6-9 on the season and 3-2 in the MASCAC while the Vikings fall to 2-10 overall and 0-4 in conference play. Bridgewater is now 14-0 all-time versus Salem including a 7-0 mark at home.

The Bears scored the first ten goals of the game, with McIntyre accounting for half of them, and never looked back.

McIntyre scored a career-high seven goals and added three assists. She also corralled six draw controls and three ground balls. McIntyre's 100th point came on an assist of an Ashley Silva (Rowley, Mass.) marker with 11:36 remaining in the second quarter.

Herrington tallied two goals and a pair of helpers to go along with 11 draw controls. The milestone 100th goal came off the free position with 3:43 left to play in the fourth quarter. Herrington's draw controls matched her career high.

Camryn Gonsalves (East Bridgewater, Mass.) registered nine points on three goals and six assists. The nine points and six assists both equaled career bests.

Eleven different players scored for Bridgewater State and 12 recorded at least one point.

Katie Lamothe (Dartmouth, Mass.) notched her first goal of the season and dished out a pair of assists. Meredith Sylvia (South Dartmouth, Mass.) also recorded multiple points for the Bears as she potted three goals.

Bridgewater held a decided 36-12 shot advantage for the game as well as a 21-8 edge in draw controls. The BSU defense also forced 21 turnovers with Gonsalves leading the way with three caused turnovers. The Vikings went just 9-for-20 on clear attempts.

BSU netminder Brooke La Torra (Oak Park, Calif.) made two saves to pick up her second win of the season.

Kenzie Currey (Bel Air, Md.), Hannah Cochran (Marshfield, Mass.), Aislinn Bennett (Milford, Mass.) and Jenna Wells (Revere, Mass.) each found the back of the net for the Vikings.

Salem keeper Nora Bradley (Haddon Township, N.J.) turned aside nine shots in the setback.

The MASCAC schedule continues for both teams on Saturday. The Bears travel to Framingham State University for a seven o'clock game with the Rams while the Vikings head to Worcester State University to take on the Lancers at noon.

Notes: Herrington is the first Bear to reach the 100-goal milestone since Victoria McDonough accomplished the feat on April 6, 2019...McIntyre recorded her 100th career ground ball.
