Coach Smith will be entering her fifth season as the Bears' head women's lacrosse coach.  Erika is a  2005 graduate of Bridgewater State where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education with a concentration in teaching.  She was also a three-sport athlete competing on the varsity field hockey and women's lacrosse teams as well as the club ice hockey team.  

Smith was a four-year starter on the women's lacrosse team from 2001 to 2004 captaining the squad during her senior season.  She recorded 88 goals and 43 assists for 131 points in 63 games, was named a New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) All-Star three times, and earned NEWLA Defensive Player of the Year honors during her sophomore season of 2002.  She was also a four-year starter and three-year captain on the BSC field hockey team from 2000-2003.  She amassed 13 goals and 16 assists for a total of 42 points in 66 games and was named to both the MASCAC and Little East All-Conference Teams in each of her final three seasons. In 2004, Erika was selected as the Bridgewater State College Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Prior to coaching at BSC, Smith was an assistant field hockey coach at Bridgewater-Raynham High School during the fall of 2004, and she was also the head women's lacrosse coach at Oliver Ames High School in Easton during the 2005 season.  Erika has also worked at the South Shore Lacrosse Camp in Weymouth over the last three years. 

In her first four seasons at the helm of the lacrosse program, Coach Smith has directed her teams to an overall record of 42-25 (.627) including a 14-4 mark in 2009.  Last season, the Bears captured both the New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) regular season and tournament titles for the second straight year.   

A native of Raynham, Massachusetts, Smith is currently a Physical Education teacher at Brockton High School.  She also just recently received her Master's of Science degree in Physical Education. 




Kath Typadis

Kathleen Typadis enters her second season on the BSC women's lacrosse coaching staff in 2010.  A native of Medfield, Mass and a 2004 graduate of Medfield High School, Kath was a phenomenal athlete in college. She competed and played for the Division 1 University of Massachusetts Amherst women's lacrosse team from 2004 to 2008. At UMass, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a minor in Education. She will be receiving her Post-Baccalaureate Graduate Student degree in Physical Education, here, at BSC.

In four years competing for the Minutemen, Kath was named to the IWLCA All-First Region Team and Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team as a junior and IWLCA All-Second Region Team and Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team as a sophomore. Before leaving the Minutemen, Kath set the UMass Scoring Record for a season with 52 goals and ranks high in just about every other scoring (points) category. She also finished first in school history in games played (70) and games started (69).

Before UMass, Kath was a four year letter-winner in lacrosse and soccer, and a three year letter-winner in basketball while attending Medfield High School. She was a Tri-Valley League All-Star and Metro West First Team All-Star for lacrosse. Kath was also a New England Premier Showcase All-Star Team member.

Kath spends much of her time off the field coaching at camps and youth programs such as the Amonte Sports Lacrosse Camp and Lacrosse 180 Girls Summer Camp. She has also worked with the Friends of Jaclyn as a team member, helping raise awareness and money for children with brain tumors.

In 2008, Kath was team captain of the UMass women's lacrosse team, a Pre-Season Tewaarton Trophy Candidate, and was selected to the final tryout list for the U.S. Lacrosse Elite/Developmental Teams.
