Ettridge, Renauld Lead Women's Lacrosse to 15-8 Win Over Mount Holyoke

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- Sophomore midfielder Elizabeth Ettridge (Marshfield, Mass.) scored a career-high five goals and senior attack Melissa Renauld (Framingham, Mass.) tallied four goals and four assists to lead the Bridgewater State University women's lacrosse team to a 15-8 victory over Mount Holyoke College in non-conference action on Sunday.

The win moved the Bears to 1-1 on the season, while the Lyons slipped to 0-2 in their home debut.

Bridgewater State held a 7-4 advantage following the first half of action, but broke open the contest with seven straight second half tallies for a 14-4 advantage. Ettridge, who had scored with 17 seconds remaining in the opening stanza, grabbed her second of the contest at 28:36 off a feed from Renauld.

Junior midfielder Haley Riley (Wakefield, Mass.) added a free position goal less than six minutes later, followed by a score from senior midfielder Alex Lynch (Plainville, Mass.) after catching a pass from Renauld for the 10-4 lead.

The Bears continued to press netting a pair of quick goals by junior attack Gabby Reinold (Braintree, Mass.). Both goals, which were scored just over a minute apart, saw the junior get the feed from freshman attack Hayley White (Dracut, Mass.).

Ettridge banked in a free position tally with 15:24 to play, adding her fourth of the game seconds later to give the visitors the ten-goal advantage.

After back-and-forth play, Mount Holyoke began to chip away at the margin, paced by junior midfielder Kaitlin Braz (Tolland, Conn.). With 9:39 on the clock, Braz sent a shot past the BSU keeper. She then made it a 14-6 score with 4:50 to play after sophomore attack Deyscha Smith (Boston, Mass.) lifted a high pass to Braz, who fired it in low.

The Lyons cut the deficit to seven as freshman Julianna Rankin (Annapolis, Md.) found the back of the net for her second of the game, but Ettridge answered once more for the visitors at the 1:41 mark.

An outstanding individual effort from Braz seconds later made it 15-8 after she cut around the back of the net and fired low down the middle, but the Bears gained possession to keep the score final.

In addition to Ettridge and Renauld, Reinold had three tallies and a helper, while White had a goal and two assists. In the cage for the Bears, senior Allie Forman (Marblehead, Mass.) earned the win with 11 saves.

For the Lyons, Braz led the way with four goals, while Rankin added two. Freshman goalie Mia Wysocki (Longmeadow, Mass.) made three saves in the loss, while senior Isa Rodriguez (Columbus, Ohio) had one stop in 22:40 of relief.

Mount Holyoke returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Westfield State for a 7pm game against the Owls. Bridgewater State will also be in action on Wednesday, taking on Alfred in a 10am contest in Florida.
