Lauren Geary Named MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week, Bridgewater State University senior midfielder Lauren Geary has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week.

Geary tallied eight goals and three assists for 11 points as well as 22 draw controls and four ground balls in a 2-0 week for the Bears. The Hulls, Massachusetts product notched six goals and three assists to go along with 12 draws and a ground ball in a 20-7 win over Framingham State, and added a pair of goals, ten draws and three ground balls in a 19-11 victory over Worcester State.

In the win over the Lancers, Geary became the all-time NCAA Division III women's lacrosse record holder for career draw controls as she increased her career total to 581. Geary eclipsed the previous all-time mark of 573 draws set by Jessica Scannapieco of Western New England University in 2015. 

Through 15 games this season, Geary has produced 50 goals and 16 assists for 66 points as well as 119 draw controls, 75 ground balls and 36 caused turnovers. She currently leads the MASCAC in draws and ground balls, and ranks third in the conference in caused turnovers, fourth in goals and sixth in scoring.

Geary is also fifth in all of Division III in draw controls per game (7.93) and ninth in ground balls per game (5.00).

In 70 games over four seasons with the Bears, Geary has amassed 218 goals and 65 assists for 283 points in addition 295 ground balls and 137 caused turnovers. She is the Bears' all-time leader in both draws and ground balls and ranks third in goals, seventh in points and tenth in assists.

The BSU women's lacrosse team wrapped up regular season play with an overall record of 10-5 including a 6-1 MASCAC mark. The Bears, who shared the conference regular season title with Westfield State and Fitchburg State, are seeded second in this week's MASCAC Tournament and will host a semifinal round game on Thursday evening at six.
