Lauren Geary Named MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior midfielder Lauren Geary has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week.

A native of Hull, Massachusetts, Geary tallied 12 goals and three assists for 15 points to go along with 22 ground balls, 22 draw controls and 16 caused turnovers in three games for the Bears last week.

Geary notched three goals, three assists, seven ground balls, eight draws and five caused turnovers in the Bears' 19-4 MASCAC win over MCLA. She also netted seven goals and added 11 ground balls, four draws and eight caused turnovers in a 12-10 setback to Plymouth State University, and two goals, four ground balls, ten draws and three caused turnovers in a 10-6 loss to Roger Williams University.

Geary also became the fourth player in BSU women's lacrosse history to reach the 200-goal milestone.

Through eleven games this season, Geary has produced 35 goals and 11 assists for 46 points as well as 78 draw controls, 62 ground balls and 30 caused turnovers. She currently leads the MASCAC in draws, ground balls and caused turnovers and ranks fourth in the conference in goals and sixth in points.

Geary is also sixth in all of Division III in ground balls, seventh in draws and 24th in caused turnovers.

In 70 games over four seasons with the Bears, Geary has amassed 203 goals and 60 assists for 263 points in addition to 540 draws, 282 ground balls and 131 caused turnovers. She is the Bears' all-time leader in both draws and ground balls and ranks fourth in goals, and seventh in points.

Geary's 540 career draw controls rank second all-time in Division III women's lacrosse history. She trails only Jessica Scannapieco of Western New England University who recorded 573 draws from 2012 to 2015.

The BSU women's lacrosse team is currently 7-4 on the season and a perfect 3-0 in the MASCAC. The Bears travel to Westfield State University on Tuesday night to take on the Owls at seven.
