Lauren Geary Named to IWLCA All-Berkshire Region Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior midfielder Lauren Geary has been selected to the 2016 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III All-Berkshire Region Team.

Geary is the first player in BSU women's lacrosse history to earn All-Berkshire Region First Team honors.

Through 17 games this season, Geary has produced 56 goals and 21 assists for 71 points as well as 141 draw controls, 83 ground balls and 38 caused turnovers. She ranks fourth in all of Division III with 8.29 draw controls per game and is 11th overall with 4.88 ground balls per game.

Among the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) leaders, Geary ranks first in draw controls and ground balls and is tied for second in both goals and caused turnovers. She is also tied for third in scoring and tenth in assists.

In 75 games over four seasons with the Bears, Geary has amassed 224 goals and 70 assists for 294 points in addition to 603 draw controls, 303 ground balls and 139 caused turnovers.

Geary eclipsed the NCAA Division III all-time record for career draw controls earlier this season and is the only player in DIII history to reach the 600 milestone. She also ranks among the top 15 in career ground balls.

The Bears all-time leader in draw controls and ground balls, Geary is also third in program history in goals, fifth in scoring and ninth in assists.

Earlier this month, Geary was named to the All-MASCAC First Team for the fourth straight season and was also selected as the MASCAC Player of the Year.

The BSU women's lacrosse team is currently 12-5 on the season. The Bears, who captured their ninth consecutive conference tournament title, will compete in th NCAA Division III Tournament for the seventh straight season and eighth time overall. Bridgewater will take on Springfield College in first round play on Saturday afternoon at one.

Notes: Geary joins Shannon Manning and Taylor Clancy as the only three players in program history to garner IWLCA Division III All-Berkshire Region honors. Manning and Clancy were named to the second team in 2010 and 2014, respectively.
