BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Senior midfielder Lauren Geary (Hull, Mass.) set the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse all-time record for draw controls as the Bridgewater State University Bears downed visiting Worcester State University, 19-11, in the regular season finale for both teams on Friday night at Swenson Field.

The Bears improve to 10-5 on the season and 6-1 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC), while the Lancers fall to 8-9 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

Geary recorded ten draw controls on the evening as she increased her career total to 581. The milestone draw came with 6:10 remaining in the first half. Geary eclipsed Jessica Scannapieco's previous all-time Division III mark of 573 draws. Scannapieco played for Western New England University from 2012 to 2015.

Junior midfielder Melissa Renauld (Framingham, Mass.) led all players with a career-high eight goals. Renauld also dished out a pair of assists as she finished with a career-high ten points on the evening.

Junior attack Alex King (North Weymouth, Mass.) added two goals and a career-high seven assists for the Bears, while freshman midfielder Elizabeth Ettridge (Marshfield, Mass.) potted four goals to go along with seven draws. Geary and senior attack Marissa Yowell (Arlington, Mass.) chipped in with two goals apiece.

BSU junior netminder Allie Forman (Marblehead, Mass.) turned aside 11 shots to record her ninth win of the season.

Junior attack Alaina Martin (East Longmeadow, Mass.) tallied three goals and an assist to pace the visitors, while senior attack Kalia Chase (Northbridge, Mass.) notched two goals and two assists. Sophomore midfielders Mackenzie Little (Marlboro, Mass.) and Hayley Sutherland (Tewksbury, Mass.) added two goals apiece for the Lancers.

The Bears held a 38-30 shot advantage as well as the edge in both draws (18-4) and ground balls (16-13).

Bridgewater led 10-3 with 4:48 remaining in the first half with Renauld, Ettridge and King combining for eight of the ten goals.

Senior midfielder Amanda Pruyn (Tyngsboro, Mass.) and Sutherland both scored to close out the first half as the Lancers trailed 10-5 at the intermission.

Worcester carrier the momentum into the second half scoring three of the first five goals to make it a four-goal game (12-8) with 16:22 remaining. Little notched a goal and Martin scored twice during that span.

Renauld, however, responded for the Bears as she scored four straight times in less than six minutes to put the game out of reach.

Both teams have earned a spot in next week's MASCAC Tournament. Tournament pairings are expected to be announced on Saturday evening. Depending on the outcome of Saturday's MASCAC games, the Bears could be seeded as high as one, but no lower than three.
