Women's Lacrosse Cruises to 19-4 MASCAC Win over MCLA

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The visiting Bridgewater State University women's lacrosse team scored the first 13 goals of the contest as the Bears cruised past the MCLA Trailblazers, 19-4, on Saturday afternoon at Shewcraft Field.

With the win, the Bears improve to 7-4 overall and are unbeaten in MASCAC play at 3-0.  MCLA is now 3-7 and 0-3 in the conference.

Eleven different Bears got into the scoring column and ten finished with mutliple points led by three goals and three assists from Lauren Geary (Hull, Mass.) Geary filled the stat sheet with game-high totals of seven ground balls, eight draw controls and five caused turnovers.

Alex King (North Weymouth, Mass.) also finished with six points on a goal and five assists, while Elizabeth Ettridge (Marshfield, Mass.) potted three goals and added a pair of helpers.

Marissa Yowell (Ashland, Mass.) found the back of the net three times and Gabby Reinold (Braintree, Mass.) and Melissa Renauld (Framingham, Mass.) each contributed two goals and an assist.

Amanda Liebetruth (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.), Mariah McKenna (Plymouth, Mass.), Alex Lynch (Plainville, Mass.) and Kerrin O'Leary (Millbury, Mass.) all finished with a goal and an assist, while Brooke Buckner (Foxboro, Mass.) rounded out the Bears' goal scorers.

The Bears outshot the Trailblazers 33-7 for the game and held a 16-7 advantage in draws.

BSU netminder Allie Forman (Marblehead, Mass.) stopped three shots to record her sixth win of the season and 25th of her career.

Natalie Caney (Belchertown, Mass.) scored all four goals for the Trailblazers, while Zoe Elwell (Clifton Park, N.Y.) made eight saves between the pipes.

The MASCAC schedule continues for both teams on Tuesday evening. The Trailblazers travel to Worcester State University for a six o'clock game with the Lancers, while the Bears head to Westfield State University to take on the Owls at seven.
