Women's Lacrosse Posts 18-3 MASCAC Win Over Mass. Maritime

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Six players recorded at least four points apiece as the Bridgewater State University women's lacrosse team cruised to an 18-3 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) victory over Massachusetts Maritime on Saturday evening at Swenson Field.

The host Bears jumped out to a 13-0 halftime advantage and potted the first 15 goals of the game.

Bridgewater improves to 6-2 on the season and 2-0 in the MASCAC, while Mass. Maritime slips to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

Sophomore Gabby Reinold (Braintree, Mass.) led all players with four goals, while juniors Alex King (North Weymouth, Mass.) and Melissa Renauld (Framingham, Mass.) tallied two goals and three assists apiece.

Freshman Elizabeth Ettridge (Marshfield, Mass.) added a hat trick and an assist for the Bears, and classmate Kerrin O'Leary (Millbury, Mass.) scored a goal and dished out three helpers.

BSU senior Lauren Geary (Hull, Mass.) had a solid all-around game as she notched two goals and two assists to go along with four ground balls, two caused turnovers and a game-high 11 draw controls.

Senior Marissa Yowell (Ashland, Mass.) contributed two goals and an assist, while senior Amanda Liebetruth (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) and sophomore Haley Riley (Wakefield, Mass.) also found the back of the net for the Bears.

Junior netminder Emily Langlois (Agawam, Mass.) picked up the win in her first career start and appearance between the pipes for Bridgewater State. Langlois made three saves on the evening. 

Junior Ashley Solari (Sandwich, Mass.) and sophomore Stephanie Hunt (Brookfield, Conn.) each recorded a goal and an assist in the setback for the Buccaneers, while sophomore Mikayla Correia (Dartmouth, Mass.) made 15 saves in net.

The Bears outshot the Buccaneers by a healthy margin of 47-10. Bridgewater also held a 16-5 advantage in ground balls as well as a 15-8 edge in draw controls.

Bridgewater State travels to Plymouth State University on Tuesday afternoon for a four o'clock game with the Panthers. Mass. Maritime heads to Elms College on Thursday night to take on the Blazers at seven.

Notes: With her two goals and three assists, Renauld moved into ninth place on the Bears' all-time assist list and tenth place on the all-time scoring list. She now has 61 assists and 208 points in three seasons with the Bears.
