Women's Lacrosse Downs Framingham State, 21-7, on Senior Night

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University women's lacrosse team cruised to a 21-7 victory over Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) foe Framingham State University on Senior Night at Swenson Field.

The host Bears improve to 8-8 on the season and 4-2 in the MASCAC, while the visiting Rams slip to 8-6 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

Junior midfielder Lauren Geary (Hull, Mass.) paced the Bears with six goals and three assists to go along with 11 draw controls. Sophomore attack Alex King (Weymouth, Mass.) added five goals and four assists, while sophomore attack Melissa Renauld (Framingham, Mass.) chipped in with two goals and four assists.

Prior to the game, the Bears honored seniors Riley Cachelin (Westwood, Mass.), Maureen Navoni (Mansfield, Mass.) and Katharine Trahan (Burlington, Mass.). Cachelin checked in with a goal and three assists, while Trahan potted a pair of goals and recorded five draws.

Bridgewater used a 7-0 run in the first half to take a commanding 11-2 lead. The Bears would ultimately take a 14-4 advantage into the intermission.

Geary notched six goals (including three during the 7-0 run) and added two assists over the first 30 minutes while King and Renauld tallied five points apiece.

The Bears carried the momentum into the second half scoring the first five goals of the stanza to put the game well out of reach. King and sophomore midfielder Alex Lynch (Plainville, Mass.) each scored twice during the run.

Sophomore netminder Allie Forman (Marblehead, Mass.) made six saves to earn her sixth win of the season.

Bridgewater held a decided 42-15 shot advantage for the game as well as a 22-8 edge in draws.

Freshman attack Morghan Cassella (Lowell, Mass.) paced the Rams with three goals while freshman midfielder Kimmy Foley (Mansfield, Mass.) netted a pair.

Junior Alysha Cericola (Waltham, Mass.) and freshman Kelsey Morgan (Southborough, Mass.) combined to make seven saves between the pipes for the visitors as they each played a half.

The Bears wrap up regular season and MASCAC play on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Worcester State University for a one o'clock game with the Lancers. The Rams head to Elms College on Thursday night for a non-conference game with the Blazers starting at seven.

Notes: Cachelin now has 48 assists on the year which is the third highest single-season total in program history….King reached the 100-point milestone when she assisted on Geary's goal at the 17:27 mark of the first half. King now has 108 points (69 G, 39 A) in her career.
