Melissa Renauld Named MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Co-Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman attack Melissa Renauld has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Lacrosse Co-Rookie of the Week.  Renauld shares the weekly honor along with Worcester State's Lea Robichaud.

A native of Framingham, Massachusetts, Renauld tallied 12 goals and three assists for 15 points in a 3-0 week for the MASCAC regular season champion Bears which included conference wins over Massachusetts Maritime, Westfield State and Salem State.

Renauld tallied four goals, an assist, seven ground balls, one draw and one caused turnover in a 20-1 victory over Mass. Maritime, and notched three goals, two ground balls, five draws and three caused turnovers in a 17-5 win over Westfield.  She capped off the week with five goals, two assists, three ground balls and a caused turnover in a 17-6 triumph on the road at Salem.

In 17 games this season, Renauld has recorded 56 goals and 16 assists for 72 points in addition to 34 ground balls, 18 draws and 11 caused turnovers.  She ranks third in the MASCAC in both goals and scoring, and is tied for seventh in assists.

The BSU women’s lacrosse team heads into the MASCAC Tournament with an overall mark of 12-5.  The top-seeded Bears, who were unbeaten in conference play (6-0) during the regular season, will have a first round bye and will host either #4 Fitchburg State or #5 Salem State in semifinal round action on Thursday night at seven.
