Melissa Renauld Named MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman attack Melissa Renauld has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week.

A native of Framingham, Massachusetts, Renauld scored 12 goals and dished out eight assists for 20 points while notching five ground balls in a perfect 3-0 week for the Bears.

Renauld tallied three goals and two assists in an 18-8 non-conference win over Eastern Connecticut State.  She added four goals, three assists, four ground balls and a caused turnover in a 20-9 non-conference win over UMass Dartmouth, and capped off the week with five goals and three assists in a 21-8 MASCAC victory over Fitchburg State.

In nine games this season, Renauld has recorded 27 goals and ten assists for 37 points in addition to 13 ground balls.  She leads the MASCAC in goals and ranks second in the conference in scoring and sixth in assists.

The BSU women’s lacrosse team is currently 6-3 on the season and 1-0 in the MASCAC.  The Bears entertain non-conference foe Keene State College on Tuesday night at seven.

Notes: Renauld is the Bears' fourth straight MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week honoree. Alex King (Weymouth, Mass.) earned the accolade each of the first two weeks of the season, while Allie Forman (Marblehead, Mass.) was selected a week ago.
