Taylor Clancy Named MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Co-Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior midfielder Taylor Clancy has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Lacrosse Co-Player of the Week. Clancy shares the weekly honor along with Worcester State's Kaila Chase.

A native of Braintree, Massachusetts, Clancy netted a hat trick to go along with three ground balls, a controlled draw and a caused turnover in the Bears' season-ending NCAA Division III Tournament loss to fifth-ranked Amherst College.

In 20 games this season, Clancy recorded career-high totals of 71 goals and 27 assists for 98 points.  She also added 75 ground balls, 78 draws and 46 caused turnovers.   Clancy led the MASCAC in goals, points, ground balls and caused turnovers in 2014.  She also finished third in the conference in draws as well as tied for fourth in assists.

In 79 games over four seasons with the Bears, Clancy amassed 180 goals and 63 assists for 243 points.  She is the program's all-time leader with 268 ground balls and ranks second in BSU history with 232 draws.  Clancy, who also has 146 caused turnovers to her credit, is sixth all-time at Bridgewater State scoring, seventh in goals and eighth in assists.

The BSU women's lacrosse team posted a record of 14-6 in 2014.  The Bears captured their second straight MASCAC regular season and tournament titles and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth straight year.

During Clancy's four seasons, the team went 60-19 (.759) including a 35-0 mark against conference opponents. The Bears won New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) championships in her first two seasons.

Notes: The 2014 MASCAC Player of the Year, Clancy garnered MASCAC Player of the Week honors four times this season.
