Taylor Clancy Named MASCAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third time this season, Bridgewater State University senior midfielder Taylor Clancy has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week.

Clancy earned MASCAC Tournament MVP honors after leading the Bears to the MASCAC Championship. The Braintree, Massachusetts product finished with nine points on eight goals and an assist to go along with five ground balls and four controlled draws in Bridgewater's two tournament wins.

Clancy scored a pair of goals to go along four ground balls and two caused turnovers in the an 18-3 semifinal round victory over Fitchburg State.  She capped off the tournament with six goals, one assist and three draws in the Bears' 19-7 championship game win over Worcester State

In 19 games this season, Clancy has recorded career-high totals of 68 goals and 27 assists for 95 points.  She also added 72 ground balls, 77 draws and 45 caused turnovers.  Clancy leads the MASCAC in goals, points, ground balls and caused turnovers.  She also ranks third in the conference in draws as well as fourth in assists.

In 78 games over four seasons with the Bears, Clancy has amassed 177 goals and 63 assists for 240 points.  She is the program's all-time leader with 265 ground balls and ranks second in BSU history with 231 draws.  Clancy, who also has 145 caused turnovers to her credit, is sixth all-time at Bridgewater State scoring, seventh in goals and eighth in assists.

By virtue of the MASCAC Tournament title, the BSU women's lacrosse team earned the conference's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Tournament.  The Bears, who will be making the program's fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance and sixth overall, will travel to Amherst College on Saturday afternoon to take on the Jeffs in second round action. Game time is 1:00 PM.
