BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Senior midfielder Taylor Clancy (Braintree, Mass.) garnered Player of the Year honors while freshman Melissa Renauld (Framingham, Mass.) has been selected as the Rookie of the Year to highlight Bridgewater State's five representatives on the 2014 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Team.

Clancy and Renauld along with senior defender Braylan Wenzel (Bourne, Mass.) and sophomore midfielder Lauren Geary (Hull, Mass.) earned first team honors, while junior attack Riley Cachelin (Westwood, Mass.) was named to the second team.

Clancy, Geary and Cachelin are each making their second straight appearance on the All-MASCAC Team.  Clancy and Cachelin were also All-New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) selections in 2012.

Clancy leads the MASCAC in scoring with 86 points, 67 ground balls and 42 caused turnovers.  She also ranks second in the conference in goals (60), third in controlled draws (73), and fourth (tied) in assists (26).

In 76 career games with the Bears, Clancy has amassed 169 goals and 62 assists for 231 points.  She is the Bears’ all-time leader in ground balls with 260, and is third in program history in draws (227), sixth in scoring, seventh in goals and eighth in assists.

Renauld has put together a terrific rookie campaign as she has scored 56 goals and added 16 assists for 72 points.  She is third in the MASCAC in goals, fifth in scoring and tied for seventh in assists. Renauld also has 34 ground balls, 18 draws and 11 caused turnovers to her credit.

Wenzel anchors a defensive unit that leads the MASCAC in goals against average (8.76), caused turnovers (144) and fewest shots on goal allowed per game (15.00).  She has a goal and six assists on the season for seven points as well as 19 ground balls, 11 draws and seven caused turnovers.

In 48 games over three seasons at Bridgewater State, Wenzel has produced four goals and seven assists to go along with 43 ground balls, 48 draws and 22 caused turnovers.

Geary, the 2013 MASCAC Rookie of the Year, has 40 goals and 12 assists for 52 points in her sophomore season.  She ranks second in the conference and is 18th in all of Division III with 90 draws.  Geary is also tied for third in the MASCAC in caused turnovers (19) and tied for seventh in ground balls, and is eighth in both goals and points.

In just two seasons at BSU, Geary is already the program’s all-time leader with 278 draws.   She has recorded 84 goals and 34 assists for 118 points in 34 career games to go along with 127 ground balls and 58 caused turnovers.

Cachelin is second in the MASCAC assists with 35 and is tied for sixth in scoring with 60 points.

In 57 games over three seasons with the Bears, Cachelin has produced 107 goals and 77 assists for 184 points.  She is sixth all-time at Bridgewater State in assists and tenth in scoring.

The BSU women's lacrosse team finished the regular season with an overall mark of 12-5, including a perfect 6-0 mark in MASCAC play.  The top seed at this week's MASCAC Tournament, the Bears host Fitchburg State University in semifinal round play on Thursday evening at seven.

Bridgewater entered the 2014 campaign as the defending MASCAC regular season and tournament champions. The Bears also captured five straight NEWLA championships from 2008 to 2012.  BSU has also qualified for the NCAA Division III Tournament in each of the past four seasons.
