Women's Lacrosse Posts 22-12 Win over Framingham State

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- Junior midfielder Shannon Manning (Framingham, MA) scored a game-high seven goals and handed out three assists and sophomore attack Jenny Jones (Framingham, MA) scored six goals to lead the Bridgewater State College women's lacrosse team to a 22-12 win over the Framingham State Rams at Maple Street Field this afternoon.

With the win, the Bears improve to 2-3 on the season, while the Rams are 0-1.  After averaging 12 goals over the first three games of the season, BSC has scored 22 in each of the last two.

Manning's ten-point performance increased her career total to 200 points.  She became just the fourth player in BSC women's lacrosse history to reach the 200-point milestone joining Paula Habel (336), Laura Swart (222) and Ann Silvia (204). 

Sophomore midfielder Courtney Lennon (Medfield, MA) chipped in three goals and three assists for the Bears.  Freshman Stephanie Lannon (Swampscott, MA) and Patricia Maloney (Walpole, MA) added two goals apiece and freshman Kristin White (Pelham, MA) and junior Katie DeMaio (Port Jefferson Station, NY) added single goals for the Bears who outshot the Rams 40-26 in the game.

The Rams were led by freshman attack Kerry Kiley (Medfield, MA) who scored a team-high four goals in her first collegiate action, while sophomore Stephanie Corrales (Framingham, MA) added three goals and two assists.  Junior attack Ashley Noonan (Medfield, MA) added two goals and juniors Kayla Sheehan (Watertown, MA) and Jessica Wood (Framingham, MA) and senior Moriah Owen (Medford, MA) added single goals for the Rams.

Junior goaltender Meghan Griffin (Billerica, MA) earned the win between the pipes for the Bears as she turned aside 12 shots.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday as they travel to Becker College for a 4 PM game, while the Bears return to action on Thursday at Mount Holyoke at 4:30 PM.
