BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior guard Kylie Grassi has been selected to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week.
Grassi scored 29 points and added eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals in a key 85-79 MASCAC win this past weekend over Westfield State University. The Plymouth, Massachusetts native connected on nine of 17 field goals attempts and went 10-for-11 at the free throw line.
Through 18 games this season, Grassi is averaging 22.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.2 steals. She is also shooting 45.5% (134-295) from the floor, 31.6% (24-76) from three-point range and 77.5% (107-138) at the free throw line.
Grassi currently leads the MASCAC in scoring, made field goals and made free throws, and ranks second in minutes played (37.3 mpg). She is also fourth among the conference leaders in free throw shooting, fifth in field goal percentage and made three-pointers, sixth in assists, seventh in both steals and three-point percentage, and tied for seventh in blocks (0.7 bpg).
On a national level, Grassi is presently fifth in all of Division III in made free throws and 11th in scoring. She is also tied for 13th nationally in made field goals and ranks 19th in minutes played.
In 67 games over her first three seasons with the Bears, Grassi has amassed 1,066 points, 284 rebounds, 160 assists, 40 blocks and 132 steals.
Grassi is the Bears' seventh D3hoops.com Women's Basketball Team of the Week selection and first since Elisha Homich in 2012-2013.
The BSU women's basketball team is currently 10-9 on the season and a perfect 6-0 in the MASCAC. The Bears entertain conference foe Salem State University on Saturday afternoon at one o'clock.
