Endicott Posts 55-44 Win over Norwich in Cave Classic Consolation Game

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Endicott College posted a 55-44 victory over Norwich University in the consolation game of the 2017 Cave Classic Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

Endicott improves to 1-1 on the young season with the win, while Norwich falls to 0-3.

Senior guard Hannah Kiernan (Wenham, Mass.), who earned all-tournament honors for the Gulls, filled the stat sheet with 14 points, six rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots and three steals.

The Gulls outscored the Cadets 11-1 over the first six minutes of the second quarter to turn a three-point lead (17-14) into a double-digit advantage (28-15). Endicott would ultimately take a 35-20 lead into the break.

Kiernan and sophomore guard Emily Pratt (Gardner, Mass.) each scored ten points in the first half to pace the Gulls. Senior forward Arianna Harrison (Vernon, Vt.) scored ten points in the opening stanza for the Cadets.

The second half was fairly evenly played. Norwich, however, was unable to get the deficit into single digits despite multiple opportunities.

Pratt finished with 14 points, five rebounds and a pair of blocked shots, while senior guard Gabriella Coppola (Watertown, Mass.) added 12 points, five boards, four assists, two blocks and three steals.

Endicott finished with ten blocks in the contest. The Gulls shot 37% (20-54) from the floor, 44% (8-18) from behind the arc and 70% (7-10) at the free throw line.

Harrison was selected to the all-tournament team as she paced the Cadets with a game-high 20 points to go along with ten rebounds in the double-double effort. Harrison, who also registered four steals, connected on 3 of 4 three-point field goals and five of her ten boards came off the offensive glass.

Senior guard Shyanna Josler (Thetford Center, Vt.) also contributed eight points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals for the Cadets.

Norwich shot just 22% (14-64) from the floor. The Cadets converted 5 of 17 (29%) three-point field goals and went 11-for-16 (69%) from the line.

In upcoming action, the Gulls entertain Keene State College on Tuesday evening at five. The Cadets are off until Friday, December 1st when they host the Ed Hockenbury Classic.
