CHICOPEE, Mass. -- Junior forward Rhiana Page (Brookline, Mass.) recorded her first career double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds to lead the visiting Bridgewater State University women's basketball team to a 55-41 victory over Elms College on Monday night at Picknelly Arena.

The Bears improve to 8-10 on the season, while the host Blazers fall to 8-8. The win marked the 296th career coaching victory for BSU head coach Bridgett Casey.

Page connected on 7 of 11 field goal attempts and four of her game-high ten rebounds came off the offensive glass. She also finished with four steals, an assist and a blocked shot.

Senior forward Jennie Lindland (Edgartown, Mass.) added 13 points and nine boards for the visitors, while junior guard Jennifer Whyte (Braintree, Mass.) scored ten points off the bench.

The Bears defense forced 26 turnovers thanks in large part to 18 steals. Senior guard Chelsea Saucier (Portland, Maine) recorded a game-high six steals to go along with five rebounds, four assists and six points.

In a game that featured seven ties and six lead changes, Bridgewater trailed 22-21 at the intermission and 41-38 with 5:44 remaining in the fourth quarter.

The BSU defense took over at that point as the Bears held the Blazers scoreless the rest of the way and closed out the game with a 17-0 run.

Elms turned the ball over five times and went 0-for-8 from the floor in the final 5 1/2 minutes.

Whyte started the 17-0 run and tied the game at 41-41 with a traditional three-point play. Saucier scored all six of her points during the spurt including the layup that put the Bears up for good, 43-41. Page contributed five points during the game-ending run.

Senior forward Alexandra Marques (Newington, Conn.) posted a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 16 rebounds to lead the way for the Blazers. Marques also added three steals, an assist and a block.

Both teams struggled with their shooting throughout the contest.

The Bears shot 36% (24-66) from the floor, including just 1-for-12 from behind the arc. Bridgewater also went 6-for-14 (43%) at the free throw line.

The Blazers converted just 33% (15-46) of their field goal attempts, and finished 1-for-8 from three-point range and 10-for-16 (63%) at the charity stripe.

In upcoming action, the Bears travel to MCLA on Wednesday night for a 7:30 MASCAC game with the Trailblazers. Elms heads to Newbury College on Thursday evening to take on the Nighthawks at seven.
