Lindland, Melton Named to All-MASCAC Women's Basketball Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University junior forwards Jennie Lindland and Chanelle Melton have been voted by the league's coaches to the 2015-2016 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball All-Conference Team.

Lindland garnered first team honors while Melton was named to the second team. Both are making their first appearance on the All-MASCAC Team.

Through 25 games this season, Lindland is averaging 12.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 3.0 steals per game. The Edgartown, Massachusetts product is also shooting 55% (133-243) from the field.

Lindland currently ranks second in the MASCAC in both steals and field goal percentage as well as seventh in scoring.

In 76 games over her first three seasons at Bridgewater State, Lindland has amassed 631 points, 278 rebounds, 86 assists, 55 blocked shots and 145 steals.

Melton, who hails from Brockton, Massachusetts, is averaging 13.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.7 steals over 25. She is also shooting 49% (135-275) from the floor.

Melton presently ranks fourth among the MASCAC leaders in field goal percentage, sixth in scoring and eighth in both blocks (0.8 bpg) and free throw percentage (.613).

In 78 games over her first three seasons at Bridgewater State, Melton has accumulated 726 points, 355 rebounds, 74 assists, 34 blocks and 85 steals.

The BSU women's basketball team is currently 13-12 on the season. Seeded third in the MASCAC Tournament with a 9-3 conference record, the Bears posted a 55-45 opening round win over #6 Worcester State University on Tuesday evening to advance to the semifinal round. Bridgewater will take on second-seeded Framingham State University on Thursday night at six.
