Sara DaSilva Named MASCAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman guard Sara DaSilva has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week.

DaSilva averaged 9.5 points, three rebounds and 1.5 steals while shooting 50 percent (8-16) from the floor in a 1-1 week for the Bears. The Chelmsford, Massachusetts product tallied ten points, six rebounds, an assist and three steals in a 70-60 setback to Westfield State, as well as nine points on 4-of-5 shooting in an 82-53 win at MCLA.

Through 24 games this season including 21 starts, DaSilva is averaging 9.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.6 steal per game. She is also shooting 39% (86-221) from the floor and 75% (21-28) at the free throw line.

DaSilva currently ranks ninth among the MASCAC leaders in three-point field goal percentage (.274) and is tied for seventh in made three-pointers (32). She is also 14th in field goal percentage, 16th in scoring and 18th in steals.

The BSU women's basketball wrapped up regular season play with an overall record of 12-12 with a 9-3 mark in conference play. The Bears are seeded third in this week's MASCAC Tournament and will host #6 Worcester State University in an opening round contest on Tuesday evening at 5:30.

DaSilva also garnered MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors back on January 4th for her performance at the NYU Holiday Classic.
