Homich Nets 26 Points as Women's Basketball Downs Framingham, 92-67

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Led by a career-high 26 points from senior guard Elisha Homich (Ludlow, Mass.), the Bridgewater State University women's basketball team coasted to a 92-67 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) victory over host Framingham State University on Tuesday evening.

The visiting Bears improve to 10-2 on the season and 2-0 in the MASCAC, while the Rams slip to 7-5 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

Homich, who added four rebounds, three assists and five steals, scored 23 of her 26 points in the first half alone including 12 during an 18-2 run which turned a one-point game(19-18) into a 37-20 BSU advantage.  The Bears would get up by as many as 20 points (43-23) in the opening stanza and took a 50-32 lead into the intermission.

BSU junior forward Megan Boutilette (Charlton, Mass.) posted her eighth career double-double with 20 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.  Boutilette finished 10-for-14 from the floor and notched four assists and a pair of blocked shots.  Junior guard Jenna Willamson (Ludlow, Mass.) added 19 points, six boards and six assists.

Reigning MASCAC Player of the Week Michaela Cosby (Walpole, Mass.) capped off the Bears' four starters in double-figure scoring as she tallied 17 points to go along with five rebounds, four assists and two steals.  After being held to just two points over the first 20 minutes, Cosby poured in 15 points in the second half.

Bridgewater's biggest lead of the game ended up being the final tally of 92-67.  Framingham got as close as 14 points (57-43) in the final stanza but never seriously threatened.

The Bears shot 52.9% (36-for-68) from the floor, including a scorching 59.4% (19-for-32) over the first 20 minutes, and outscored the Rams 54-36 in the paint.  Framingham converted just 35.8% (24-for-67) of its field goal attempts and finished 4-for-19 (21.1%) from behind the arc.  Bridgewater held a 46-37 rebounding advantage while turnovers were even at 19 apiece.

Senior forward Kia Minor (Edgartown, Mass.) paced the host Rams with 24 points, nine rebounds and two steals.  Minor finished 8-for-15 from the floor and 8-for-12 at the free throw line.  Junior guard Kristen Hoffman (Foxboro, Mass.) added 20 points, six boards and a pair of steals, while sophomore guard Nicole Bostic (Raynham, Mass.) chipped in with 12 points and six assists.

In upcoming action, Framingham travels to MASCAC foe Fitchburg State University on Saturday afternoon for a one-o'clock game with the Falcons.  Bridgewater heads to UMass Boston to take on the Beacons in a non-conference affair on Thursday evening at five.
