Williamson Nets 25 to Lead Women's Hoops to 69-55 Win at UMass Dartmouth

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Junior guard Jenna Williamson (Ludlow, Mass,) made seven of ten three-point attempts and scored 25 points to lead the visiting Bridgewater State University women's basketball team to a 69-55 non-conference victory over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Tuesday evening at the Tripp Athletic Center.

The Bears built a 33-27 halftime lead and outscored the Corsairs 36-28 in the second half to pull away for the victory.

Williamson hit six three-pointers in the opening stanza and had 17 points at the halftime break.  Her third trifecta of the evening marked the 100th of her career.  Senior guard Elisha Homich (Ludlow, Mass.) added 13 points for the Bears, who had 15 steals and forced 29 UMass Dartmouth turnovers.

Senior forward Colleen Moriarty (Canton, Mass.) led UMass Dartmouth with 19 points, while junior forward Erika Bornemann (Canton, Mass.) added 11. Bornemann led UMD with nine rebounds while junior forward Megan Boutilette (Charlton, Mass.) had eight for the Bears, who were outrebounded by the Corsairs, 43-31, but made 12 of 16 free throws to UMD's four of six and hit nine three-pointers to three for the Corsairs.

UMass Dartmouth dropped to 3-1 with the defeat, while Bridgewater State improved to 3-1 with the victory.

The Corsairs will return to action Friday evening when they host Keene State in the Little East Conference opener. The Bears will play Bates College on Friday in the Williams Holiday Classic.
