Women's Hoops Falls to Kean, 106-82, at Land of Magic Classic

DAYTONA, Fla. -- The Kean University women's basketball team defeated Bridgewater State University, 106-82, on Thursday afternoon at the Land of Magic Classic hosted by Embry-Riddle University.

Kean improves to 10-2 on the season with their fourth consecutive win.  Bridgewater falls to 5-5 as the Bears have dropped three straight.

The Cougars shot a blistering 76% (29-38) from the floor in the first half to take a commanding 63-34 lead at the intermission.  Bridgewater would get no closer than 23 points the rest of the way as Kean cruised to the 24-point victory.

Junior guard Naimah Clemons (Newark, N.J.) paced the Cougars with 33 points on 15 of 19 shooting to go along with 12 rebounds and six assists.  Senior forward Erika Jones (Perth Amboy, N.J.) added 23 points, eight boards and four steals.

Kean, which attempted just seven three-pointers, dominated the inside game outscoring Bridgewater, 84-30, in the paint.  The Cougars finished with a 63% (45-72) shooting percentage for the game.

Bridgewater was led by senior forward Monica-Sabina Bharoocha (North Smithfield, R.I.) who scored a season-high 22 points and notched seven rebounds and a pair of steals. Junior forward Michaela Cosby (Walpole, Mass.) chipped in with 17 points, three caroms, two assists and two steals, while sophomore guard Jenna Williamson (Ludlow, Mass.) registered 13 points and a game-high eight assists.

Bridgewater opens Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) play at Fitchburg State University on January 7th.  Kean travels to New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) foe Rowan University on January 4th.
