Box Score

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott College women's basketball team halted a two-game losing skid with a 69-58 non-conference victory over Bridgewater State College on Friday night in Beverly, Mass.

The Gulls wrap up the first semester of play at 4-3 overall while Bridgewater drops to 3-4. The Gulls received 20 points and five steals from Ashley Wright (Merrimack, N.H.) as well as a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds from Ceciley Chisholm (Lexington, Mass.).

In the first half, the Gulls fell behind 5-3 but quickly grabbed the lead back on a three pointer by Kate Kovach (Moon Township, Pa.) to make it an 8-6 lead. Endicott never looked back as the Blue and Green quickly built leads in excess of 18 on a jumper from Wright with 2:59 to play in the half.

The Gulls took a 41-27 lead into the break led by Wright's 15 points and four steals. Chisholm chipped in with 12 points and seven rebounds in the frame while the Bears were led by seven points from Corey Cuddihy (Scituate, Mass.) and four points and five rebounds from Shelly DePina (New Bedford, Mass.).

In the second half, the Bears fought back to cut the Endicott lead to single digits after falling behind 19 early in the second half. Elisha Homich's (Ludlow, Mass.) three-ball with just under eight minutes to play cut the EC lead down to 54-46. A three pointer from Wright extended the lead back to 11 with 5:22 play; however, back-to-back three pointers by Brittney Chappron (Braintree, Mass.) made it a seven point game with 1:18 to play. Unfortunately, that would be as close as the Bears would get as a layup by Chisholm and a pair of free throws from Kovach with less than a minute to play extended the lead back to 11 and sent the Gulls home with a 69-58 victory.

Endicott held the edge in points off turnovers (21-14) while also doing most of their damage from in the paint, outscoring Bridgewater 34-10. The Gulls were led by Wright's game-highs of 20 points and five steals as well as Chisholm's 18 points and game-leading 10 rebounds. Ashley Vitale (Wilmington, Mass.) added 13 points and seven rebounds while Kovach had nine points and five rebounds. Bridgewater State was led by 17 points from Chappron as well as 12 points and six rebounds from Cuddihy.

The Blue and Green return to action following the winter break when Endicott travels to New York City for a matchup with Lebanon Valley on January 2nd at 5:00 p.m. Bridgewater State also travels out of state as the Bears face off with Capital University as part of the Surf'N Slam Classic in San Diego, California on December 28th at 4:00 p.m.
