BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Junior guard Brittany Chappron (Braintree, MA) poured in a career-high 26 points to lead the Bridgewater State College women's basketball team to a 71-60 victory over Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC) rival Framingham State College this evening from the Tinsley Center in Bridgewater.  

With the win, the Bears improve to 5-7 overall and 2-0 in the MASCAC.  Framingham drops to 4-6 on the season and 0-2 in conference play.  

Chappron connected on 8 of 15 field goal attempts and was 4-for-8 from three-point range.  She was also a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line and added two rebounds, two assists and two steals.  Chappron scored 17 of her 26 points in the first half as the Bears closed out the opening stanza with a 13-2 run to take a 38-31 lead into the intermission.  

Bridgewater never relinquished the lead in the second half, and held a ten point advantage (47-37) with 13:52 left to play.  Framingham then scored nine unanswered points to cut the deficit to one at 47-46.  Leading 51-49, the Bears used a 10-1 run, highlighted by five points from sophomore forward Monica-Sabina Bharoocha (North Smithfield, RI), to retake control of the game for good.  Framingham would get no closer than eight points the rest of the way.   

Freshman guard Elisha Homich (Ludlow, MA) also finished in double figure scoring as she tallied 10 points to go along with two rebounds, three assists and two steals.  Sophomore forward Shelly DePina (New Bedford, MA) added eight points, a team-high 11 rebounds and two steals.  

Freshman forward Kia Minor (Oak Bluffs, MA) and sophomore forward Emily Clark (Melrose, MA) paced the visiting Rams with 17 points apiece.  Minor finished with a double-double as she also pulled down 11 rebounds.  Clark grabbed six boards and registered a pair of steals.  Senior forward Toya Chester (Leominster, MA) added 13 points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals.  

Bridgewater State shot 47% (27-for-58) from the field as well as from behind the arc (7-for-15).  The Bears were also 10-for-14 at the free throw line and forced 27 Framingham turnovers.  The Rams outrebounded the Bears by a margin of a 42-30 including a 14-5 advantage on the offensive glass.
