Victoria Becker Named MASCAC Softball Player of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore right fielder Victoria Becker has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Player of the Week.

Becker batted .440 (11-25) with two home runs, two doubles, a triple, three walks, two stolen bases, five runs and seven RBI in nine games last weeke as the Bears went 6-3 at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Little River and North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Abington, Massachusetts product also posted a .500 on base percentage as well as a .840 slugging percentage.

Becker went 2-for-3 in a 5-4 win over Saint Elizabeth; 2-for-3 with a home run in a 4-2 setback to Misericordia; 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and two runs scored in an 8-6 victory over Penn State-Abington; 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a sacrifice bunt in a 10-7 loss to Immaculata; and 1-for-1 with an RBI triple and a pair of walks in a 9-1 triumph over Penn State-Beaver. She also knocked in a pair of runs in a 4-3 win over Martin Luther, and stole two bases, scored two runs and drove in one in a 12-8 victory over Penn College.

In 36 games (18 starts) over her first two seasons with the Bears, Becker is batting .318 (14-44) with two home runs, two doubles, a triple, three walks, four stolen bases, 12 runs and eight RBI.

The BSU softball team is currently 6-3 on the young season. The Bears entertain the Cadets of Norwich University in a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. Game one is slated to get underway at 12:30.
