Madison Synan Named MASCAC Softball Rookie of the Week

BRIIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman catcher Madison Synan has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Rookie of the Week.

Synan Batted .500 (6-12) with a home run, two doubles, three runs scored and six RBI in four games for the Bears last week. The Quincy, Massachusetts product also posted a .571 on base percentage and a .917 slugging percentage.

Synan went 4-for-6 with her first collegiate home run, two doubles, three runs and four RBI in two losses to UMass Dartmouth. She was also 2-for-6 at the plate with a pair of walks, and two RBI in a pair of MASCAC setbacks to Worcester State University.

In 14 games this season, Synan is batting .298 (13-45) with two doubles, a home run, seven runs and six RBI. She has also walked five times.

Defensively, Synan is sporting a .983 fielding percentage and has thrown out three would be base stealers.

The BSU softball team is currently 7-13 on the season and 1-3 in the MASCAC. The Bears entertain Roger Williams University in a single game on Wednesday afternoon at four.
