Chrissy Semler to Speak at Be the Best Baseball & Softball Coaches' Convention

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University head softball coach, Chrissy Semler, has been selected to speak on a variety of topics geared toward sports psychology at the Be the Best Baseball and Softball Coaches' Convention in January.

The convention will take place from January 26th to January 29th and will be held at the Harrah's Waterfront Conference Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Coach Semler is in the midst of obtaining her doctoral degree in sport and performance psychology and is a licensed mental health counselor. She holds a master's degree in clinical psychology.

Along with working as a sport psychotherapist and sport psychology consultant, Chrissy teaches psychology at Bridgewater State  for the Psychology Department and the Department of Movement Arts, Health Promotion, & Leisure Studies. Courses taught as sole instructor include Introductory Psychology, Sport Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Psychology of Sport and Physical Performance, Social Psychology and Physiological Psychology.

Chrissy is a member of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology, American Psychological Association, American Psychological Association Division 47 – Exercise and Sport Psychology, Amateur Softball Association of America – ACE Level 3 Certification, and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Chrissy is also the owner and lead pitching instructor of Diamond Fastpitch, Inc. in Raynham, MA. She has been a private pitching instructor since 2001. Her passion for learning and evolving her skills as a pitching coach lead her to become a certified instructor with Tincher Pitching. Tincher Pitching is a team of certified Instructors lead by Denny Tincher who span across the nation and work together to bring the best out of every pitcher they encounter using biomechanics and other research-based methodology.

Coach Semler is entering her fourth season as the head coach for the Bridgewater State softball team. She has amassed an overall record of 77-44 (.636) over her first three seasons including a 33-9 (.786) mark in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC). In 2014, Coach Semler guided the Bears to both the MASCAC regular season and tournament titles as well as the program's first 30-win season (32-14) in 13 years. Bridgewater would capture the NCAA Division III Wellesley Regional championship before bowing to eventual national champion Tufts University in the Super Regional.
