BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University Director of Athletics, Dr. Marybeth Lamb, announced today that Lindsey Couturier has been named as the Bears’ new head softball coach.

Couturier, who already holds the full-time position of Coordinator for Athletic External Relations at BSU, is a 2014 graduate of the University of New Haven where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management of Sports Industries in 2014.

“I am very excited to have Coach Lindsey Couturier leading our Bears,” said Lamb.

“Lindsey has been with the University since the Summer of 2016 and has already made tremendous contributions to the entire athletic program," Lamb added. "This is a very talented team and will no doubt excel under Lindsey’s guidance”.

Lindsey played four seasons as a third baseman on the New Haven Division II softball team as she batted .320 (200-625) in 203 career games with 24 home runs, 40 doubles and 157 runs batted in. She served as a team captain for her final three seasons with the Chargers and was selected to the Daktronics Division II All-East Region Second Team and the Northeast-10 All-Conference First Team in 2014.

Couturier is New Haven’s all-time leaders in runs batted in and assists (444). She also ranks third all-time in hits, home runs and doubles. In 2014, Lindsey tied the program record for home runs in a season with 12.

Lindsey, who hails from Dighton, Massachusetts, earned her MBA with a concentration in Sports Management from Misericordia University in 2016.  While at Misericordia, she served as the Graduate Assistant Softball Coach for two seasons in 2015 and 2016.

Couturier replaces former skipper Chrissy Semler who resigned following the 2017 season to focus on her teaching and own personal education pursuits. Semler posted a record of 92-64 (.590) in four seasons at the helm and guided her squad to an NCAA Division III Super Regional appearance in 2014.

“We are grateful to Chrissy for her contributions to the team,” said Lamb. “I know that competing in the NCAA Super Regional was an amazing experience for the entire University.”
