Kathleen Bailey Named MASCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior right-hander Kathleen Bailey has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week.

A native of Bayport, New York, Bailey went 2-1 with two complete games, a shutout, 14 strikeouts and a 1.62 ERA in 13 innings over three appearances for the Bears last week.

Bailey tossed a complete game, two-hit shutout with eight strikeouts in a 1-0 MASCAC win over Framingham State University. She also threw five scoreless innings with four hits and six strikeouts in a 17-1 conference victory over Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

In 27 appearances for the Bears this season, including 20 starts, Bailey is 10-11 with 14 complete games, two shutouts and one save. She has fanned 81 batters and sports a 3.70 earned run average in 132.1 innings of work.

Bailey leads the MASCAC in both innings pitched and appearances and is tied for the conference lead in starts. She also ranks third in strikeouts, fourth in wins and ninth in ERA.

In 66 games (49 starts) over four seasons with the Bears, Bailey has produced a win-loss record of 20-27 with 30 complete games, six shutouts and a pair of saves. Her career ERA stands at 3.66 with 211 strikeouts in 304 innings of work.

The BSU softball team ended the regular season with an overall record of 15-19 including a 7-7 mark in the MASCAC standings. Seeded fifth in the MASCAC Tournament, the Bears travel to #4 Worcester State University on Wednesday afternoon for a four o'clock opening round game with the Lancers.
