BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third straight week, Bridgewater State University freshman outfielder Kacie Carvalho has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Softball Rookie of the Week.

A native of Fairhaven, Massachusetts, Carvalho batted .500 (6-12) with three runs and an RBI in four games during the MASCAC Tournament.

Carvalho had at least one hit in all four games as she extended her hitting streak to 14 games. She went 1-for-3 in a 6-2 win over Westfield State; 1-for-3 with a run in a 9-0 win over Salem State; and 4-for-6 with a two runs and an RBI in pair of championship round setbacks to Worcester State.

In 29 games this season, including 23 starts, Carvalho batted .468 (29-62) with two doubles, three triples, a pair of stolen bases, 15 runs scored and 11 runs batted in. She also sported a .507 on base percentage and a .597 slugging percentage.

The BSU softball team wrapped up the 2016 season with an overall record of 25-15. The Bears finished second in the MASCAC regular season standings with an 11-3 conference mark.
